DaDesktop

Bare Metal PC Farm

In addition to cloud-based options, DaDesktop gives you the ability to work with bare-metal physical desktops or servers.

This setup is intended for scenarios where each participant gets their own physical machine, and it has been applied in these typical situations:

  1. full server access without virtualization, whether for performance gains or licensing requirements (such as ONAP, OpenStack)
  2. hardware that can't be virtualized, like certain GPUs, Mellanox cards when the course covers firmware-related modifications, or other networking gear, and so on

What's more, this approach can integrate with an existing physical classroom with only slight adjustments. That way, trainers can set up the environment remotely, avoiding the need to be physically present in Greece.

The Cloud Desktop, when running in a cloud environment, can be directly deployed to participants' physical machines.

Requirement for onsite deployment

To implement this, you'll need to purchase physical control cables known as ddnexus, costing roughly 100 USD per desktop.

You can give it a go by choosing Metal PC when setting up a Standalone or Fresh-start desktop.
