FAQ (DaDesktop for Training)

1. For Power Bi and VBA, is there Excel inside DaDesktop (DD)? as MS Excel capabilities are necessary.

  1. No, MS Office is not included in DD (Win10 & Win11 Pro). What we offer is a DD virtual machine and a Training room.
  2. Trainers should set up a free-trial MS Office account for all delegates.
  3. Otherwise, they can use their personal MS Office account.

2. Can I copy something from my own desktop to my DD desktop?

  1. Yes, we have provided a straightforward method for uploading files from your local machine to the DD Desktop. The only minor restriction is that you can transfer just one file at a time. But it's simple to create a zip or archive containing all your needed files and then copy that over to your DaDesktop machine.
  2. If you're using cloud storage, remember to sign out from your cloud service before cloning to all delegates.

3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible?

  1. If you're on the Chrome browser, navigate to 'chrome://settings/system' and disable hardware acceleration.

4. Do Trainers have access to the NobleProg wiki?

  1. No, as stated in the Terms and Conditions at https://hr.nobleprog.com/trainer/register, trainers are not permitted to access the wiki.
  2. If you have content to edit on the NobleProg wiki, copy and paste it and email it to the trainer (a PDF is also fine).

5. Are there any domains we can whitelist when using proxy or content/network filtering to enable better working?

Yes, please add any domains matching this pattern to your whitelist: -

  1.              *.npg.io
  2.             https://dd4t.dadesktop.com

If you have any other questions, reach out to DaDesktop Support.

6. How can I have multiple desktops when using DD, like Ansible Training?

  1. First, the trainer(s) can configure DD by selecting settings for RAM, CPUs, and disk.
  2. Then install Virt Manager or VirtualBox within DD to create multiple virtual machines and establish networking between them.
  3. Once setup is complete, you can clone the configuration to delegates in seconds.
  4. If you need help, contact DaDesktop Support.

7. What is the server capacity?

  1. It varies depending on the server hardware.
  2. For example, 512GB of RAM can be used as 512GB *3.
  3. Each server has a maximum disk size of 250GB, up to 16 CPU threads per desktop, and fully customisable RAM configurations.

8. Can I download the Video from the Training Recordings?

  1. Yes, recordings can be downloaded now by clicking the three small dots to the right of the video player.
  2. The video includes voice recording if you use the audio from the training room.

9. Which browser should I used for DD?

  1. Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera all work flawlessly.
  2. Other browsers, such as Internet Explorer, are not fully supported.

10. Why is there a huge delay using DaDesktop?

  1. First, check your network connection because DaDesktop's performance depends on your local connection speed.
  2. Look at the server location — when the coordinator sets up the desktop, they will always select a server near participants in Greece.
  3. Switch off your VPN, or set it to PAC mode. Also, disable any security software, especially any that interferes with WebSocket functionality, which is essential for smooth DaDesktop operation.

11. Websocket is blocked or not supported by network

Remote desktop access relies on Websocket

  1. The issue might be your device blocking it. Look into settings or configurations that could be blocking Websocket. For instance, on some Chromebooks, in the proxy settings, if the 'Use the same proxy for all protocols' option is ticked, Websocket won't function (as it will set the SOCKS host with a proxy). Untick that box and leave the SOCKS host field empty. That should resolve it.
  2. Alternatively, the problem could be with the network rather than your device. You'll need to reach out to your network administrator and ask them to unblock Websocket.

12. What support do you have for GPU, ie for 3d applications, etc ?

  1. For information about GPU support, please visit this GPU page.

13. Is there any potential issues or answers?

  1. In general, using DaDesktop is just like using a regular Windows or Linux computer, although you might encounter a few minor issues with certain software applications during training, particularly related to cloning machines.

14. Do you support Mac compatible programs or Mac Emulation?

  1. No, we don't offer support for Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation, primarily because of common licensing concerns.
