In a DaDesktop (DD) Fresh Start machine, the vast majority of applications run without any issues. However, a handful of applications encounter problems during the cloning process and require a few additional adjustments to function correctly.
System Configuration
- Hyper-V Server 2019 or later (earlier versions will likely exhibit the same behaviour)
- Installed via a Windows 10 / Windows Server 2019 template

Summary: The fix on Fresh Start is as follows. When cloning from a FreshStart machine, Hyper‑V encounters duplicate MAC addresses on the External switch. To avoid this, either choose the second pre‑configured Intel network adapter or remove the external switch from the FreshStart machine before cloning—I’ll walk you through the details below.
Repair Procedure
1. Start by opening Hyper‑V Manager. Right‑click and choose Virtual Switch Manager.
2. In the Virtual Switch Manager window, pick the ‘External’ switch and then the Intel Pro/1000 network adapter. Note: This option only appears with newer Windows 10 templates (v71 and above). Click OK, save the configuration if prompted, and then close Hyper‑V Manager.
3. Proceed with your FreshStart machine setup as needed. Once configuration is done, shut down the virtual machine from within the VM itself and wait for it to stop entirely. After that, clone the FreshStart machine to the trainer and participant machines.
After these steps, Hyper‑V Server will work correctly on both trainer and participant machines. Without this fix, participants may inadvertently see each other’s virtual machines rather than their own, since cloning the external network adapter leads to duplicate MAC addresses on the External switch when cloned from the FreshStart machine.
