Recycle Bin
Once a course wraps up, all the associated machines—like Fresh Start, Trainer, and any participant machines—are taken down after a brief interval.
We've introduced a feature that lets you retrieve these machines from the 'Recycle Bin' for some time after they've been cleared from a course. How long you can restore them isn't fixed—it varies based on factors like server disk space, overall usage, and so on—but typically, you should be able to recover machines for at least a couple of months after a course ends.
For each machine, you can either Restore it to the original course (if that course still exists), Restore to a Standalone Desktop, or Delete it entirely, whichever you prefer.
You can gauge the state of your Recycle bin from its icon: a black icon means there are restorable machines waiting; if it's greyed out, the bin is empty and nothing can be retrieved.
You can also search the machines listed in the recycle bin using their name, server name, or course name.
Steps to Restore or Delete Machines from the Recycle Bin
- Restore – This option brings back a machine that was removed from a course. It returns the machine to that specific course. However, if the course has already ended, you can't restore it there; instead, you'd opt for restoring to a standalone desktop (explained next).
- Restore to Standalone Desktop – Typically used when a course is over and you can't restore it there. Turning it into a standalone machine gives you more flexibility, since it stays available for as long as you need it.
- Delete – To permanently remove a machine from the Recycle Bin, select this option. Please note: once deleted from the bin, the machine cannot be recovered.
- Empty Recycle Bin – Clicking the red Empty Recycle Bin button clears out all machines from the bin, meaning they'll be gone for good and can't be reused.
