GPU Reservations

Training Coordinators can assign guaranteed GPU resources to courses through the GPU reservation feature. This approach grants these courses first priority access to requested GPU compute hardware, thereby ensuring that training and labs have the necessary hardware requirements to operate successfully.

The following process outlines how to establish a GPU reservation for a course:

On the Desktops tab of the course page, locate the blue button positioned beneath the Video conference button and labelled "Reserve GPU" to initiate the process.

Upon clicking the button, a prompt will appear to gather the essential details for your GPU request.

The first element is location, which defaults to "Anywhere".

If you are aware of the city closest to the participants, you can manually input this by selecting "Within distance from city".

For broader location coverage, you may choose the "Others..." option.

Once the location is satisfactory, click "Continue" to proceed to the "Per desktop" section, where you can define specific machine requirements.

Here, you should specify all resources required per machine to obtain an accurate estimate of the approximate resource costs.

** Please ensure accuracy in this section, as it leads to a more precise cost estimation and assists course managers in locating resources should regional availability become limited.

If the entered information is correct, click Continue to advance to the GPU requirements section.

In this section, it is advisable to consult with the trainer to determine the exact needs of the course. Trainers typically have a clear understanding of the required GPU Vendor and Model to conduct their sessions. If either you or the trainer is uncertain, please select "ANY".

Currently, we offer support for two Vendors: AMD & Nvidia.

Regarding models, we list our current catalogue of available options. If you are unsure of the trainer's specific needs, please select "ANY" once again.

Once you are content with the reservation details, click "Place reservation." This action will allocate the necessary funds, activate the reservation, and mark it as active on the course page, as demonstrated below:

Should new information regarding the required GPUs arise, necessitating changes to your reservation, please contact DD support to receive assistance in editing the GPU reservation request.
